Product Description
The Bitter Palate Pelham Gem is a professional equestrian equipment that combines the features of both a normal snaffle and a curb in a single structure, offering high control power. This gem is specifically designed for horses that are difficult to steer, described as "hard-headed," and resist standard gems.
Double-Action Mechanism:
Upper (Large) Ring Usage: The bridle attached to this ring applies normal pressure to the horse's tongue, functioning as a curb bit. It allows the horse to respond to softer commands. Lower Ring Usage: The second bridle attached to the lower ring acts as a palatal bit, levering the action of the bit's arms. This mechanism applies pressure to the horse's neck and lower jaw, creating a stronger stopping and steering effect.
Painful Palate (High Port) Feature: The high center of the bit allows for direct and firm pressure to be applied to the palate. Because of this structure, it is called a "Painful Palate" and has a very heavy impact. Suitable only for experienced riders or training under professional supervision.
Flexibility of Use: The highest level of communication is achieved when used with two bridles. However, riders who do not wish to use two bridles can connect both rings using a Pelham Arakol, triggering both effects (bite and palate effect) synchronously with a single bridle.
Applications
Controlling horses that are difficult to steer and have very stiff heads; situations where both bridle and bit effects are desired simultaneously; advanced horse training and professional riding education; obstacle jumping or off-road riding where extra leverage is needed.
